I think everything here "fell off a truck"

It is so easy to shop in Hong Kong. So many of the world's consumer goods are made here and MOST things for sale within the city seem to have fallen off the truck between the manufacturing plants and the shipping ports. I'm certainly not complaining, where else can you get a cashmere sweater for $9? Honestly it's just hard to wrap my mind around how inexpensive everything is here.

In addition to it's cheap, wonderful shopping, Hong Kong is just a flat out amazing place. There are about 10 million of everything here - people, buildings, taxis, immigrants, ferries, shops, restaurants... and there are probably 20 million double decker buses. You just can not get bored, there's always something new to see. I was fortunate enough to have been given a great tour of by a really nice girl from my classes. She showed me all the cool stuff, we went shopping and eating all over town - my 2 favorite things to do in ANY city!!

The highlight of my trip so far happened yesterday in Ngong Ping. I took the skyrail over to see The Big Buddha. [Definitely do this if you ever go to Hong Kong!] Anyhow this day-trip is a bit like going to Disney World (think the "China" pavillion at Epcot in Orlando). Unlike Disney, free enterprise from the outside world is allowed within the pavillion. Along the sidewalk at the bottom of the steps of the Buddha there was an old man standing above a fire and a steamer wok. The wok was full of corn on the cob. I paid a whole PENNY for an ear his of fresh steamed corn. HA!!! If only such healthy snacks were ALWAYS available! :)

I am absolutely in love with this town. When I make up an online photo journal, I'll post the link here. Hong Kong ROCKS.
