Tricky asked me to marry him. I said no. But then he showed me this beautiful ring so I reconsidered.
We’re getting married next spring in Florida.
What really happened is we were taking pictures on the front of a ferry boat on our way into Seattle. I was holding the camera, which we had borrowed from one of Tricky's work colleagues. It had a detachable lens cap so I had the camera in one hand and the lens cap in the other. We were standing right along the railing of this ferry when he got down on one knee (!!!!) and asked if I would marry him.
Well I have a propensity for falling off boats - it’s kind of a joke in my family. I also have a propensity for dropping things. So as Mr. Blueberry Pancakes is asking me and showing me this beautiful ring in a lovely white box, I’m thinking “Oh GOD NO! Something or someone is going to end up in the water!!!” But I didn’t realize I was actually SAYING ‘no’ out loud! I [finally] heard myself and decided I'd better tell him I meant to say YES! Well that came out “I want to say no!”
At the same time, we’re both confused because there are two rings in the box. Tricky was trying to just get the ring on my finger but he couldn’t figure out the two rings. Then he realized the jeweler had put both the engagement ring and the band in the box - he had both made, so it’s a set and they were both in there.
By the time he figured out the correct ring, enough of my shock had worn off where I could get out the words "Yes, of course I will marry you!" And what do you know, I have this lovely ring on my left hand and an even lovelier FIANCE - and nothing (and no one) went overboard into Puget Sound!! :)

PS – Mr. Blueberry Pancakes never opened the ring box when the jeweler sent it to him. He wanted it to be a surprise for both of us, and he figured if he saw the ring he wouldn’t be able to keep it a secret. GOOD THING the ring was the right one, and was indeed in the box!!! :)
